Community Fundraising Programs

RecognizeGood is an innovative social networking website dedicated to sharing and promoting acts of kindness or charity, rewarding good samaritans and a destination site for good news and inspirational stories. The honoree is notified via e-mail and given the opportunity to choose Caritas of Austin as the organization that will benefit alongside the primary beneficiary. The honoree can decline to be recognized. Personal information, such as the honoree’s last name or contact information is not included on the posting.

For more information, or to read and review some of the acknowledgements, please go to www.recognizegood.org.

To help us spread the word about this program, we need Volunteer Community Reporters who have a desire to make our community a better place to live, have a keen eye for finding the good in others, are wiling to write about acts of kindness in our community and share the stories of those needing to be recognized, and are committed to finding and posting (5) acts of kindness per week onto the Recognize Good website!

Please contact Carol Thomas at cthomas@caritasofaustin.org if you are interested in being a Community Reporter.

Caritas of Austin is pleased to be a participant in I Live Here/I Give Here! For more information about this program, please visit their website at www.ILIVEHEREIGIVEHERE.ORG.

Austin is no doubt a caring community. But we don't act on our values by giving more to charitable organizations. National studies consistently find that Austinites give far less to charitable causes than people in other cities. In fact, Austin is ranked 48th out of the 50 largest cities in the nation in per capita giving.

The mission of the I Live Here, I Give Here campaign is to change that.

A recent local study showed an overwhelming majority of Central Texans believe financial support of nonprofits is key to maintaining a strong, vibrant community. Austinites also think an important measure of community success is how well it takes care of those who are at risk of falling between the cracks.

Yet, many Austin nonprofits are struggling to provide the programs and services to meet the needs.

In the same study, Central Texans said they would give more if they better understood the community's needs.

So, the I Live Here, I Give Here Campaign is on a mission to boost local giving by educating fellow Austinites about the needs in Central Texas and the organizations working to meet those needs.

Our promise is to raise awareness. We hope you'll promise to raise your level of giving.
