Q. What is the minimum age to volunteer in the Community Kitchen?
A. Individuals who are 12 years and older may volunteer in the Community Kitchen. For opportunities for younger children please see our Work Experience Page.
Q. Can I volunteer on weekends?
A. The Caritas Community Kitchen is only open for volunteer group Monday - Friday.
Q. How far in advance should I schedule my volunteer experience?
A. Summer and holidays fill up fast! If you would like to volunteer during a specific time, plan as much in advance as possible. Fill out our online volunteer form now.
Q. What is the time commitment to volunteer?
A.The regular shift for Community Kitchen volunteers is 9:00am-1:30pm. Schedule a day of service or sign up to be a weekly Kitchen volunteer.
Direct Service Volunteer opportunities are available for a committment of 10-20 hours a month on a flexible schedule. Please see our Work Directly With Clients Page for more information about Direct Service opportunities.
Q. Where can I park on my day of service?
A. Parking is available at the pay station in front of Caritas on Neches street (good for 3 hours). We are also conveniently located on the Capital Metro Bus route and just two blocks away from the Metro Link.
