Serve for a Day

- .Build teamwork with your group.
- Prepare and serve meals in the Community Kitchen.
- Choose a menu and theme, purchase and prepare a meal, and serve to disabled clients in supportive housing.
- Host your own food drive with your group and donate canned goods to the Caritas pantry.
- Clean, paint, and repair transitional housing apartments
Time Commitment: 4 hours

Support Caritas Staff

- Enter data and perform other computer-related assignments for program staff.
- Complete a variety of clerical tasks, such as filing, photocopying, and shredding.
- Create and organize files
- Communicate via phone.
Time Commitment: 2 hours/ week

- Help plan and participate in fundraising events, such as the Caritas Golf Classic, Poverty Roundtable, or ThunderCloud Subs’ Turkey Trot.
- Participate as a group or individuals in fun(d)raising events.
- Assist staff in pre- and post-event planning activities.
Time Commitment: Flexible, depending upon the event schedule

Provide Professional Services
- Provide professional services, such as reviewing legal documents, analyzing databases, photo-documentation or performing music.
- Photograph clients, volunteers, staff, and events.
- Provide IT support on special projects.
- Provide pro bono legal services, such as Review Employment Authorization Documents.
- Play music or sing for our clients and at Caritas events.
Time Commitment: Flexible with the event

- Drive your vehicle to deliver food, furniture, and other donations to Caritas
- Drive your vehicle to pick up food from Austin grocers and other donors and deliver to Caritas pantry and Community Kitchen.
- Transport donated furniture from donors to Caritas.
Time Commitment: Four hours a week

- Prepare and serve meals in the Caritas Community Kitchen, collect and donate food for Pantry clients, or donate and serve meals for people in supportive housing.
- Prepare and serve lunch in the Caritas Community Kitchen with a team of volunteers dedicated to serving smiles with food!
- Food Drives: conduct your own food drive in your neighborhood or business, school, or church. Collect canned goods and other non-perishable items for use by our pantry clients.
- Participate in community-wide food drives.
- Serve on a Food Drive Committee.
- Cook and serve a meal for people living in supportive housing.
Time Commitment: Flexible

Assist refugees
- Coach and mentor refugees moving towards self-sufficiency, assist with interpretation and acculturation activities, or prepare an apartment for refugee arrival.
- Coach and mentor newly-arrived refugees fleeing persecution in their home countries as they transition towards self-sufficiency in their new home.
- Provide interpretation or acculturation activities in areas relating to finance, employment, transportation, and grocery shopping for refugees.
- Transform apartments into a welcoming home for arriving refugees.
Time Commitment: Two-five hours a week
Training is offered on a flexible schedule.

Work with low-income families
- Work with low-income working parents making the transition to financial stability.
- Encourage effective money-management skills with a single parent working toward independence.
- Be a supportive influence to a client in a difficult time.
- Provide support during the job search by practicing interview skills.
Time Commitment: Five hours a week; Training is available on a flexible schedule.
