Veterans Assistance
Honoring those who served by ensuring no veteran in Austin faces homelessness.
Serving Those Who Served
Veterans have sacrificed so much for our country. When they return home, they deserve stability, dignity, and support. Caritas of Austin's Veterans Assistance program provides specialized housing and supportive services to very low-income veteran families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless — helping them rebuild their lives in the community they defended.
How We Help
Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF)
Through our SSVF program, we provide housing assistance and wraparound supportive services to very low-income veteran families. Services include help with rent, utilities, and deposits, as well as case management, employment support, and connections to VA benefits and community resources.
Case Management
Our dedicated case managers work closely with veteran clients to develop individualized plans for achieving and maintaining stable housing. We connect veterans with the full range of Caritas services — food, education, employment — as well as VA programs and other community partners.
Community Connections
We help veterans reconnect with their community — linking them to peer support networks, VA healthcare, mental health services, and other resources that support long-term wellbeing and stability.
This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans' Assistance. The Fund for Veterans' Assistance provides grants to organizations servicing veterans and their families. For more information, visit www.TVC.Texas.gov.
