Songs of Hope is Caritas of Austin’s annual fundraising event. Join us on April 18th for live music, dinner, dancing, a live and silent auction, a Fund The Mission opportunity, and more. Gather your friends, family or coworkers and get your tickets today!

100% of funds raised stay local and are used to prevent and end homelessness for people in Greater Austin.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors and attendees, the 2023 event raised over $560,000 to provide Austinites with a safe, stable and affordable place to call home! We look forward to raising even more this spring to make homelessness rare, brief and nonrecurring in our community.

Grupo Fantasma

The nine-piece collective formed in 2000 in Austin, Texas, Grupo Fantasma has been praised as one of the most important independent acts in the Latin genre and has continually defied expectations to create one of the most unique musical voices to come out of the United States in the 21st century.

In 2011, they garnered further acclaim by winning a Grammy (their second such nomination) for their self–produced release El Existential on Nat Geo Music which the Wall Street Journal called “Latin music both new and traditional…vibrant fusions that transcend easy classification.”

In addition, they have served as the backing band for and collaborated on several occasions with the late, great, legendary Prince, Fania All–Stars pianist Larry Harlow, Sheila–E, GZA of Wu–Tang Clan, Maceo Parker, Curt Kirkwood of the Meat Puppets, Ruben Ramos, GZA of the Wu–Tang Clan, cult–hero Daniel Johnston, indie rock standouts Spoon, Los Lobos and many others.

Reid Umstattd

An Austin native, Reid Umstattd grew up with constant exposure to the city’s unique live music scene. Combine the special ambiance of the “Live Music Capital of the World” with a household soundtrack of equal parts Motown, Rock, and Country music, and it’s easy to see how Umstattd has created genre-bending vocals and a special skill to switch from one musical style to the next effortlessly.

After ten years in the band Nelo, Umstattd set out on his own and auditioned for season 14 of NBC’s “The Voice.” His talent paired with Adam Levine’s mentorship led him through two rounds of competition on the show, making the top 24 contestants out of an initial crowd of more than 40,000 hopefuls.

Since then, Reid has released two albums and continues to contribute to the live music scene right here in Austin, TX.
