4 Ways You Can Contribute to Nonprofit Events

With over 13,000 nonprofits registered in Austin, there’s no shortage of great causes to support. Many nonprofits host events and rely on the funds raised from these events to continue changing their community for the better.

Here are four ways you can contribute to making your community stronger for all.

1. Attend

One of the easiest ways to show support for local nonprofits is by attending their events.

Attending either online or in-person shows that the nonprofit’s mission and work in the community is important enough to endorse with your time and money.

Your presence and support can bolster an organization, and the funds from your ticket purchase go directly toward solving national and local issues.

Think of a time when your family or friends attended your competition, sporting event, or performance. Remember how that support felt? The same feeling translates to nonprofits as well.

If you’re looking for a nonprofit event to attend this coming September, get your tickets for Caritas of Austin’s Songs of Hope today.

2. Make a Donation

Nonprofits might call this gift-giving by different names, but the principle is the same – a 100% tax-deductible gift that goes directly toward their mission or population served.

For example, a Fund the Mission gift at Caritas of Austin’s Songs of Hope goes directly to house hundreds of clients and provide resources for them to rebuild their lives (access to healthy food, education, employment opportunities, etc.).

Today, everyone is looking for a way to stretch the almighty dollar, and in the nonprofit world, we like to “double the impact” by offering matching opportunities. This is when other donors give a matching gift before the event, and when you donate, this doubles your impact for the organization!

If you donate $25, it becomes $50. If you donate $50, it becomes $100, and so on.

To double your impact locally, consider giving a Songs of Hope Fund The Mission gift, and your donation will be matched up to $100,000!  All funds stay local, are 100% tax deductible and go toward ending homelessness in Greater Austin.

3. Make a Purchase

At many events put on by nonprofits, there are live and silent auctions with items often donated by local businesses, allowing you to enjoy one-of-a-kind local experiences while showing your support.

These experiences can vary from exclusive art exhibits, day passes for unique experiences, or in true Austin fashion, a private sunset cruise watching the famous South Congress bats.

Making these purchases also goes toward the money raised and helps the nonprofit get closer to its fundraising goal.

If you’re interested in making a bid – Caritas of Austin will be hosting a Songs of Hope silent auction, where you can get the chance to win a variety of experiences –bidding starts August 24!

4. Share with Your Network

By sharing nonprofit events with your friends, family, and coworkers, you amplify that nonprofit’s exposure and mobilize community members to invest in organizations they are passionate about.

Here are a few ways you can share with your network:

  • Forwarding newsletters you receive in your inbox.
  • Like social media posts.
  • Reposting social media posts.
  • Sharing your own social media posts.
  • Inviting a representative from a nonprofit to speak at your workplace.

Sharing an event with your network is like providing your stamp of approval that the event is worth going to and should be supported.

All of these ways help nonprofits help others. With your support for these events, we can make a lasting difference in our community and make our city stronger and more vibrant for all!
